The Waymaker

The Waymaker is a necklace I’ve held onto for a long time, but now it’s time to let it fly away to a new home. This piece was a class sample, so it has so many one-of pieces to it.

I used an etched sterling silver focal with a beautiful Nautilus Rose, adding a prong set crystalized agate slice, to the center. I had a precious fossilized walrus tusk cabochon, which went so perfectly with the agate slice, that I had to add it as the dangle. I found the gorgeous gray moonstone nugget beads at the Tucson Gem Show, which I wire wrapped along with the sterling silver chain, which is a sample of a link I taught, called Rustic Links.

If you turn the focal over, you will see a brass Texas star!

The pendant focal, including the dangle measures approximately 4”. The necklace itself measures right at 17”, so the total length of the necklace is approximately 21” This includes a 1-1/4” hand-formed sterling silver hook and eye, which hooks in the front, just 2-1/2” up from the focal on the left..
